WHY MUST I BE SAVED?
God loves you. He created you so that you could spend eternity with Him. From the very first people created on earth, however, each of us has chosen to do things that have violated God's standards. This is called SIN. Sin must be paid for because God is righteous (perfect) and cannot accept sin into His presence.
God knows us better than any other can. He knows you better than you know yourself! Because of this, God saw that there was no way for you to ever reconcile your relationship with Him. Some payment had to be made that was acceptable. The Bible says ,"The wages of sin is DEATH; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." –Romans 6:23
You see, JESUS was the only one who ever lived a perfect, sinless life. Because of this, His blood alone is a worthy payment for our sins. John
HOW TO BE SAVED
Salvation is a free gift from God but it is not without cost. Someone had to pay the price for our sins and that person is Jesus. Our responsibility is to accept this gift and to be willing to turn away from our sins. This is called REPENTANCE. This doesn't mean you'll never sin again- it means that when you do sin, you must admit it before God, ask for His help to overcome and start going in a different direction. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." God is faithful because He will always forgive us, and He is just (justified) because the sin debt (death) has already been paid through Christ Jesus.
To receive the gift of salvation, you must humbly ask God for it. Here is a suggested prayer.
Dear God,
I know I have sinned and that my sin separates me from you. I am sorry for my sin. I believe Jesus died on the cross for me so my sin can be forgiven. I believe Jesus rose from the dead and is alive.
God, please forgive me. I ask Jesus to come into my life and be my Savior and Lord. I will obey You and live for You the rest of my life. Thank You- AMEN.
